SUBJECT: Naming of the Library Garden at the University of Nebraska at Omaha
(UNO) and the International Quilt Study Center garden at the University
of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) the “Marion E. and Barbara B. Tritsch
Gardens” in honor of Marion E. and Barbara B. Tritsch
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Report
PREVIOUS ACTION: None
EXPLANATION: Upon the death of Barbara B. Tritsch, the trust created in her name gave
a substantial gift to the University of Nebraska Foundation. Foundation
donor records revealed an area of interest for the Tritsch family was
campus beautification. Pursuant to this interest, the Foundation
identified two beautification projects for which the gift from the trust
would be most beneficially used, the garden on the grounds of the
International Quilt Study Center at UNL, and the garden near the Criss
Library at UNO.
Naming of the gardens at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and the
University of Nebraska-Lincoln the “Marion E. and Barbara B. Tritsch
Garden” recognizes the bequest of Marion E. and Barbara B. Tritsch.
The respective namings have been recommended by Chancellor John
Christensen and Chancellor Harvey Perlman and have been approved by
President Milliken.
The Board of Regents expresses, on behalf of the University of
Nebraska, its deepest gratitude and appreciation to the Tritsches for their
bequest to the University of Nebraska.
