person will be need after the first year of operation eventually leading to full time.
Most courses required for the proposed MS in Construction are already offered in existing
degrees or already taught by other departments. There is an untapped capacity for the addition of
masters-level graduate students due to the space availability within these existing courses. No new
courses or faculty will be required to support the initiation of this new degree program. Faculty
members within the School will comprise the majority of each student’s graduate committee
members. These faculty members include:
• Charles Berryman, Ph.D., CPC - Planning, scheduling, residential construction, pozzolan
stabilization.
• Yong Cho, Ph.D. – 3D Workspace modeling for construction equipment operations, computer
graphics, construction robotic automation.
• Bruce Fischer, AIA - Building codes, renovation, planning and zoning.
• E. Terence Foster, Ph.D., P.E., CPC - Structural and information systems, structural analysis
and mechanics, structural design (steel, concrete, wood, nontraditional materials), foundation
design, formwork design, business methods, equipment.
• James Goedert, Ph.D., P.E. - Quantitative methods , business methods, estimating, equipment,
planning and scheduling, safety, budgets and controls.
• Wayne Jensen, Ph.D., P.E. - Heavy construction, equipment utilization, geotechnical
engineering.
• George Morcous, Ph.D., P.Eng. - Structural analysis and mechanics, estimating, planning and
scheduling, construction information systems.
• Avery Schwer, Ph.D. - green building applications for concrete, engineering management, and
sustainable construction
• Jerold Stegeman, Ph.D., P.E., - bituminous paving systems, underground utility pipelines
• Terry Stentz, Ph.D., MPH, CPE, CPC - Ergonomics, construction safety, engineering
management.
