SUBJECT: Capital Improvements for Revenue Bond Housing Facilities at the<br />

<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Nebraska</strong> at Kearney<br />

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the attached Resolution to authorize transfer and expenditure <strong>of</strong><br />

up to $4,960,000 for Capital Improvements for Revenue Bond Housing<br />

Facilities at the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Nebraska</strong> at Kearney (UNK).<br />

PREVIOUS ACTION: During the last five years the Board <strong>of</strong> Regents has approved similar<br />

surplus fund requests as follows:<br />

EXPLANATION: Section 6.1 <strong>of</strong> the Bond Resolution (June 15, 1966) requires the Board <strong>of</strong><br />

Regents to keep the facilities in good repair, working order and condition<br />

and to make all necessary and proper repairs, so that the residence halls<br />

can be operated in an efficient, sound and economical manner. The<br />

improvements and modifications detailed on the accompanying pages<br />

represent the highest priority needs that have been identified by<br />

residents, user groups, and managers <strong>of</strong> these facilities.<br />

PROJECT COST: $4,960,000<br />

Proposed start <strong>of</strong> construction Aug 2009<br />

Proposed completion <strong>of</strong> construction July 2011<br />

ON-GOING FISCAL Annual Operating Costs $50,000<br />
