SUBJECT: Architect selection for the Abel-Sandoz Dining Center Renovation<br />

project at the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Nebraska</strong>-Lincoln<br />

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the selection <strong>of</strong> Elness Swenson Graham Architects, Inc. to<br />

provide design services for the Abel-Sandoz Dining Center Renovation<br />

at the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Nebraska</strong>-Lincoln (UNL).<br />

PREVIOUS ACTION: June 13, 2008 – The Board <strong>of</strong> Regents approved the Program Statement,<br />

Budget, and financing for the Abel-Sandoz Dining Center Renovation at<br />

UNL.<br />

EXPLANATION: A selection committee consisting <strong>of</strong> the Assistant Vice President and<br />

Director <strong>of</strong> Facilities Planning and Management, UNL Campus<br />

Architect, a Lead Project Manager <strong>of</strong> UNL Facilities Management and<br />

Planning, the Associate Director <strong>of</strong> Housing Business and Fiscal<br />

Operations, the Director <strong>of</strong> Housing Dining Services, the Assistant<br />

Director <strong>of</strong> Housing Construction Projects, the Associate Director <strong>of</strong><br />

Housing Facilities Operations, and a representative from UNL Facilities<br />

Planning and Construction have selected Elness Swenson Graham<br />

Architects, Inc. to provide design services for the renovation <strong>of</strong> the Abel-<br />

Sandoz Dining Center. The firm was selected from nine firms<br />

submitting proposals on the project. A contract will be negotiated within<br />

the approved project budget.<br />

PROJECT COST: $12,900,000<br />

Proposed start <strong>of</strong> construction June 2009<br />

Proposed completion <strong>of</strong> construction June 2010<br />
