Hon. Ezra Bourne married Martha, daughter ot Samuel<br />

Prince, and had<br />

I. Joseph, who was liberally educated, and ordained as<br />

the pastor <strong>of</strong> the Marshpee Church in 1729. He resigned<br />

the mission in 1742. He married July 25,<br />

1743, Hannah Fuller <strong>of</strong> <strong>Barnstable</strong>, and died in 1767,<br />

leaving no issue.<br />

II. Samuel, son <strong>of</strong> Ezra, married L'Hommedieu,<br />

and had Benjamin, Samuel, Nathaniel, Nathan, Timothy,<br />

Sarah and Elizabeth, all <strong>of</strong> whom married.<br />

HI. Ezra, son <strong>of</strong> Ezra.<br />

IV. Searjashub, married Bosworth, and had Shearjashub,<br />

Benjamin and Martha, all <strong>of</strong> whom married<br />

the eldest having a family <strong>of</strong> thirteen. Benjamin was<br />

eludge <strong>of</strong> the District Court <strong>of</strong> Rhode Island.<br />

V. Martha, daughter <strong>of</strong> Ezra,<br />

dieu.<br />

married a Mr. L'Homme-<br />

VI. Mary, daughter <strong>of</strong> Ezra, married<br />

first minister <strong>of</strong> East Bridgewater.<br />

VII. Elizabeth, daughter <strong>of</strong> Ezra, married Timothy Bourne.<br />

'l"he descendants <strong>of</strong> Ezra Bourne, Esq., as they are not<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>Barnstable</strong>, I shall not trace farther. In 1794, three <strong>of</strong><br />

his grandsons were members <strong>of</strong> Congress ; one from Massachusetts,<br />

York.<br />

life was Judge <strong>of</strong> Probate for the County <strong>of</strong> <strong>Barnstable</strong>.<br />

He married Feb. 23, lf)92-3. Desire, youngest daughter <strong>of</strong><br />

Elder John Chipman. She died March 28, 1705, and he<br />

married second, Abigail, widow <strong>of</strong> Thomas Smith. In his<br />

will, dated 24th Sept. 1742, proved Feb. 15th following,<br />

he gives to the Sandwich Church £10, old tenor, or 50 shillings<br />

lawful money. He names his wife Abigail, her sons<br />

Samuel and John Smith, her daughter Rebecca, Mary and<br />

Isaac, children <strong>of</strong> her son Shubael, deceased, and her<br />

grandson. Doctor Thomas Smith, to all <strong>of</strong> whom he gave<br />

* His house is yet remaining in Sandwich ; it was most substantially<br />

built. The cliipboards on the walls were shaved from cedar about an<br />

inch ill thickness, and nailed with wrought nails. They are now tight<br />

and as good as new.
