Samuel Stetson, <strong>of</strong> Scituate.<br />

V. Elisha, 1st Sept. 1687 ; married Temperance Stewart, and<br />

was <strong>of</strong> Mansfield, Conn., 1729.<br />

VI. Mercy, 10th June, 1689 ; married Samuel Stetson, Dec.<br />

17, 1724.<br />

VII. Benjamin, 20th June, 1691.<br />

John Dunham was a member <strong>of</strong> the Plymouth Church, and<br />

afterwards <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Barnstable</strong>. He was not an original proprietor.<br />

He bought <strong>of</strong> Thomas Bowman, Jr., who removed to Falmouth,<br />

Feb. 18, 1685, three acres <strong>of</strong> land at the Herring Brook was laid<br />

out to him, bounded east by Goodspeed's old cart way that goeth<br />

from Ebenezer Goodspeed's house to the place where the old<br />

house <strong>of</strong> the said Goodspeed was by the salt marsh ; south and<br />

west by the cove and river, and north by the commons. On the<br />

10th <strong>of</strong> April, 1689, 30 acres which had been granted to him<br />

several years previous was laid out to him at Oysterhead river, 65<br />

rods square, bounded westerly by Herring River, southerly by<br />

John Leede, Senr's, marsh, easterly by John Goodspeed's cart<br />

way, and north by the commons.<br />

DICKENSON.<br />

Capt. John Dickenson married, lOth July, 1651, Elizabeth,<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Mr. John Howland <strong>of</strong> Plymouth, and widow <strong>of</strong><br />

Ephraim Hicks. She married Hicks 13th Sept. 1649, and he died<br />

three mouths after. He bought the lot which I presume was<br />

originally Rev. John Smith's, containing 8 acres, bounded west by<br />

the lot <strong>of</strong> Isaac Wells, and easterly by George Lewis. The new<br />

Court House stands near the western boundary <strong>of</strong> his lot. In<br />

1654, he had sold this lot to Isaac Wells, and had removed from<br />

<strong>Barnstable</strong>.<br />

In 1653, he was master <strong>of</strong> the Desire, <strong>of</strong> <strong>Barnstable</strong>, owned
