It is mandatory that all international students check in with the<br />

Office <strong>of</strong> International Student and Scholar Services with their<br />

passports and entry documents (I-20, or DS 2019 and I-94 card)<br />

upon arrival on campus.<br />

<strong>Florida</strong> Tech’s residence life program is committed to supporting<br />

and enhancing the academic mission <strong>of</strong> the university.<br />

Residence life staff work with resident students and various<br />

campus departments to ensure clean, comfortable and well-<br />

maintained residence halls.<br />

The residence life program includes all <strong>of</strong> the student life aspects<br />

<strong>of</strong> residential facilities and the formulation and interpretation <strong>of</strong><br />

all policies and procedures affecting students in residence. It also<br />

includes all counseling and student conduct concerns, programming<br />

and community development. The emphasis is on providing<br />

living and learning experiences from which people can grow. The<br />

major role <strong>of</strong> the program is to support and enhance the development<br />

<strong>of</strong> the personal as well as academic life <strong>of</strong> students while<br />

they are at <strong>Florida</strong> Tech.<br />

The Office <strong>of</strong> Veterans Affairs, located in the Office <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Registrar, has a coordinator available to assist veterans and their<br />

dependents with both university and VA-related matters. In addition<br />

to providing information regarding VA education benefits,<br />

tutorial assistance and employment services, the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong>fers<br />

individual counseling and referrals.<br />

The military science program, administered from Campbell<br />

Hall, has coordinators available to assist any qualified student to<br />

achieve a Senior Army ROTC scholarship.<br />

The Campus Services Office coordinates many campus<br />

services including student housing and food services, business<br />

operations, the bookstore, campus vending, ATMs, ID cards,<br />

administration <strong>of</strong> student health insurance, and campus scheduling<br />

including the Gleason Performing Arts Center.<br />

Conference and special events services <strong>of</strong>fered through the<br />

Campus Services Office are designed to assist all academic units,<br />

faculty, staff, students and the general public in hosting meetings,<br />

conferences, banquets and special events at the university.<br />

<strong>of</strong>fice, located on the ground floor <strong>of</strong> Evans Hall.<br />

Evans Dining is located in the Residence Quad, on the second<br />

floor <strong>of</strong> Evans Hall. It is an “all you care to eat” cafeteria that<br />

<strong>of</strong>fers a variety <strong>of</strong> homemade entrees, short-order grill, cookto-order<br />

stir-fry station, deli, hot and cold buffet bar, and dessert<br />

and beverage bars. Bag lunches are available if ordered in<br />

advance. Evans accepts meal points, FlexCash, Panther Cash,<br />

cash and major credit cards.<br />

The SUB Café and Deli in the Denius Student Center is a<br />

comfortable, casual dining spot on campus. It features a variety<br />

<strong>of</strong> daily specials, soup and salad bars, full grill service, desserts<br />

and fresh-baked cookies, along with a deli sandwich shop. Pete’s<br />

Java Den <strong>of</strong>fers cappuccino, espresso, latte, mocha and many<br />

gourmet c<strong>of</strong>fees. The SUB Café accepts FlexCash, Panther<br />

Cash, cash and major credit cards.<br />

The Rathskeller Eatery on the ground floor <strong>of</strong> Evans Hall<br />

<strong>of</strong>fers fresh-baked pizza, burgers, deli subs, hand-dipped Edy’s ice<br />

cream and freshly baked gourmet cookies. The “Rat” <strong>of</strong>fers late<br />

night dining with big-screen TV and a game room, pizza delivery,<br />

and a mini convenience store. The Eatery accepts FlexCash,<br />

Panther Cash, cash and major credit cards.<br />

Center Court on the first floor <strong>of</strong> the Clemente Center for<br />

Sports and Recreation serves the south side <strong>of</strong> campus with a<br />

variety <strong>of</strong> healthy food choices. Center Court accepts FlexCash,<br />

Panther Cash, cash and major credit cards. Center Court is open<br />

Monday–Friday and during Panther home games.<br />

Co-curricular Activities<br />

<strong>Florida</strong> Tech hosts more than 100 student organizations for<br />

students to join and hold positions <strong>of</strong> leadership. Organizations<br />

represent the varied interests <strong>of</strong> <strong>Florida</strong> Tech’s students. These<br />

interests include student governance, social programming, cultural<br />

education and appreciation, fraternity/sorority membership,<br />

political and religious development, dance, music and theater<br />

performance, academic and honor organization involvement,<br />

science fiction/historical role playing and participation in athletic<br />

club team sports.<br />

New campus organizations are formed annually based on student<br />

interest. All organizations are supported by the Office <strong>of</strong> Student<br />

Activities and a faculty/administrative adviser. Organizations are<br />

provided leadership training and recognition throughout the year.<br />

The university provides varsity athletics, and intramural and<br />

recreational activities for students. <strong>Florida</strong> Tech is a member<br />

<strong>of</strong> the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division<br />

II and competes in the Sunshine State Conference. Men’s sports<br />

include baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, rowing, soccer<br />

and tennis. Women’s sports include basketball, cross country,<br />

golf, rowing, soccer, s<strong>of</strong>tball, tennis and volleyball.<br />

Panther teams have earned regional titles in baseball, men’s<br />

soccer and women’s basketball, and Sunshine State Conference<br />

championships in men’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country,<br />

men’s and women’s basketball, and women’s rowing. In addition<br />

to competing at the regional level, the Panthers hold team<br />

national championships in men’s soccer and rowing.<br />

Intramural team sports include flag football, s<strong>of</strong>tball, volleyball,<br />

cricket, basketball, soccer and inner tube water polo. Individual<br />

intramural sports are tennis, running, golf, weightlifting, racquetball<br />

and badminton.<br />

The Clemente Center for Sports and Recreation <strong>of</strong>fers abundant<br />

opportunities for a variety <strong>of</strong> sports and recreational activities<br />

(see “Facilities” in this section).<br />

Two swimming pools, soccer fields, baseball and s<strong>of</strong>tball diamonds,<br />

four regulation tennis courts and two four-wall racquetball<br />

courts are located on campus. Nearby are two 18-hole golf<br />

courses. Students are welcome to use these facilities and to take<br />

advantage <strong>of</strong> many other recreational opportunities afforded by<br />

the warm, sunny climate, the Atlantic Ocean and the natural<br />

waterways in Brevard County. Surfing, water skiing, swimming,<br />

boating and fishing are popular activities throughout the area.<br />

The All Faiths Center and the United Campus Ministry <strong>of</strong>fice<br />

are located at the southern end <strong>of</strong> the campus on Babcock Street<br />

(adjacent to the Psychology building). The center is open to all<br />

students as a place to pray, meet friends and consult with volunteer<br />

campus ministers who serve in an educational consortium.<br />

The United Campus Ministry serves as a clearinghouse for all<br />

religious activities.<br />
