Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Introduction
Hawkesbury City Council has a solid historical record of its greenhouse gas emissions through its
involvement in the Cities for Climate Protection Program, and more recently through its receipt of regular
energy and greenhouse gas performance reports as part of its subscription to the Planet Footprint
Program for Local Government.
Involvement in these initiatives has been driven primarily through a need to better improve energy
performance within the organisation, and to influence the community to improve its energy performance,
with the overall objective being to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from within Council and from across
the wider Local Government Area.
