<strong>Council</strong>’s Water Consumption<br />

Introduction<br />

The Water Savings Action Plan was approved by the State Government on the 1 April <strong>2009</strong>. The Plan<br />

continues to implement water efficient actions across <strong>Council</strong>'s top ten sites. The Plan expires on the 1<br />

April 2013.<br />

How is the <strong>Hawkesbury</strong> performing?<br />

<strong>Council</strong> water consumption has<br />

decreased by 14.3% since last year.<br />

Water consumption per residents<br />

has decreased 13%.<br />

<strong>Council</strong> subscribes to an independent environmental score keeper, Planet Footprint, who captures and<br />

monitors data on waste, energy, water, street lighting, fleet management and greenhouse gas emissions.<br />

Current status and trends<br />

All sites except the Administration Precinct and the Animal Shelter decreased consumption. The total kL’s<br />

saved in total was 19,421 kL or equivalent to nearly 14 Olympic Swimming Pools.<br />

Response to the issue<br />

<strong>Council</strong> became a member of Sydney Water, “Every Drop Counts” Business Program in April 2007. This<br />

program has been exceptionally successful in locating leaks and faulty equipment at <strong>Council</strong>’s Richmond<br />

Swimming Centre and the Oasis Aquatic Centre.<br />

Online monitoring has been implemented at Richmond Pool and Oasis Swimming Centre to detect any<br />

water leakages<br />
