Lee said sediment traps to look at temporal variability in organic<br />

carbon flux to the seafloor had been deployed for one year, in 1995. There<br />

was a plan to exp<strong>and</strong> <strong>environmental</strong> baseline studies during the 15-year<br />

period beginning in 2003, to include biology, geology, geophysics <strong>and</strong><br />

chemistry relating to the remaining Korean area.<br />

A participant commented that the use <strong>of</strong> side-scan sonar, which<br />

threw light on the variability <strong>of</strong> the seafloor, should be considered for<br />

benthic community investigations.<br />
