Access to Healthcare Services Figure 15- History of Medical check-up 40.9% of the respondents quite possibly did not know their current medical status because they either had never had a medical check-up (15.7%) or they could not recall if they had (25.2%). 12.6% had medical checks over a year ago and the other combined 46% had had a medical check-up in the past year or less. Means of covering medical expenses The majority of 46.3% of the respondents paid out of pocket for medical care. 43.1% used the national Medical Benefit card and 6.3% only went where they got free 79
care. Some had no answer as they had not attempted to access any medical care. So clearly, ability to pay definitely affects access to health care.
