Access to HIV Services for Mobile and Migrant Populations in Antigua

Create a job bank – having a job could create a sense of empowerment in some
MSM’s which could lead to them making more healthy choices as they would not
be as financially vulnerable as if they were unemployed. They could also learn
how to write resumes, how to present themselves at an interview and where they
could sign up for free courses or get inexpensive training.
Training for healthcare workers at MSJMC or the government clinics so that
they are more sensitive to the needs of MSM’s.
Strengthen the Human Rights desk – the human rights desk as it currently
exists is only for issues related to HIV and AIDS. It should also include advocacy
and reporting for persons who are a part of the core group of a MARP.
Create a website focused specifically on the MSM population. This way, they
have access to actual information and can interact. Sometimes the internet has a
lot of information and a person can get lost or get misinformation.
Have a MARP team. This group will be responsible for carrying out the new initiatives,
for maintaining the website, writing policy to present to the legislators and would train
and educate the public, etc. This could be made up of a physician, nurse, social worker,
MSM’s and a research or policy specialist.
