57.8% of the young ladies work on the weekends only when most of the bars are more
active and patrons are more likely to be present. Most of the SWs (52.6%) meet their
clients at the sex club or on the street (41.2%).
Condom use
When asked if in the past 12 months a condom was used in sexual relations with partner
(boyfriend or girlfriend), only 42.1% stated that they always used a condom and a
significant 29.8% provided no response to this question. 87.7% of them always use a
condom with non-partner sexual activity.
53.5% of the participants normally get their condoms from CHAA. Quite a large
percentage also gets their condoms from the AIDS Secretariat and the pharmacy or
supermarket. That accounts for 48.2% and 45.6% respectively.

The English-speaking FGD confirmed that the participants get their condoms from
CHAA who distributes at the clubs and bars where they work. However If they fall short
when they were scheduled to work, they would buy them for a higher price at the bar
where they worked. One of the girls mentioned that she believes that “the bar owner gets
them free and then sells it back to us” and requested that her reporting of that
information remain anonymous. They all have had unprotected sex at least twice
