3. fails to promptly follow any reasonable direction given to that person by the designated<br />

representative of the ASAA. The Executive Committee or its designated representative<br />

shall have the authority to notify local law en<strong>for</strong>cement personnel of the failure of any<br />

person to immediately comply with a direction to leave any premises or any venue<br />

host<strong>in</strong>g any ASAA sanctioned event.<br />

E. Adm<strong>in</strong>istrators and Teachers<br />

Adm<strong>in</strong>istrators and teachers must demonstrate courtesy and good sportsmanship by their positive<br />

examples.<br />

DRUGS, ALCOHOL AND TOBACCO<br />

A. The ASAA is unequivocally opposed to athletes us<strong>in</strong>g any banned substance as identified by Sport<br />

Canada. It is equally opposed to the use of such substances by <strong>in</strong>dividuals <strong>in</strong> a position of leadership<br />

<strong>in</strong> school sport (i.e., coaches, tra<strong>in</strong>ers, managers, adm<strong>in</strong>istrators, etc.). In addition, the ASAA is<br />

opposed to any illegal and/or unethical physiological manipulation (i.e., blood dop<strong>in</strong>g, hormones)<br />

employed <strong>for</strong> the purpose of per<strong>for</strong>mance enhancement..<br />

B. The ASAA prohibits athletes possess<strong>in</strong>g/consum<strong>in</strong>g any alcoholic beverage while <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> ASAA<br />

activities. It is opposed to the use of such substances by <strong>in</strong>dividuals <strong>in</strong> a position of leadership <strong>in</strong><br />

school sport (i.e., coaches, tra<strong>in</strong>ers, managers, adm<strong>in</strong>istrators, etc.) while <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> ASAA<br />

activities.<br />

C. The ASAA prohibits athletes, coaches/teacher sponsors and any other <strong>in</strong>dividuals <strong>in</strong> a position of<br />

leadership (tra<strong>in</strong>ers, managers, adm<strong>in</strong>istrators, etc.) from smok<strong>in</strong>g and/or us<strong>in</strong>g spit tobacco on-site<br />

while <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> ASAA activities. This applies to all activities held on school property and rented<br />

community facilities <strong>for</strong> events such as Rugby, Track & Field, Football, Golf and Cross Country<br />

runn<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

DISCIPLINE AND MISCONDUCT<br />

A. General Statements on Discipl<strong>in</strong>e<br />

1. The head coach, as a representative of the school, is responsible <strong>for</strong> the conduct of all personnel<br />

compris<strong>in</strong>g the school’s team (players, assistant coaches and other bench personnel).<br />

2. For a coach to address, or permit anyone on his/her bench to address, uncomplimentary remarks to<br />

any official dur<strong>in</strong>g the progress of a prov<strong>in</strong>cial championship, or to <strong>in</strong>dulge <strong>in</strong> conduct that might<br />

<strong>in</strong>cite players or spectators aga<strong>in</strong>st the officials, is a violation of the rules of the game and must<br />

likewise be considered conduct unworthy of a coach.<br />

3. All ASAA prov<strong>in</strong>cial championship hosts will convene a discipl<strong>in</strong>e/appeal committee. The<br />

committee will have the authority to address issues of a serious nature that may occur be<strong>for</strong>e, dur<strong>in</strong>g<br />

or after a prov<strong>in</strong>cial championship match, or to hear appeals of the automatic suspension result<strong>in</strong>g<br />

from an ejection. The committee may <strong>in</strong>clude, but not be limited to, the tournament chairperson, an<br />

official and two coaches not <strong>in</strong> conflict with the issue. In football, the discipl<strong>in</strong>e/appeal committee<br />

will be the ASAA Executive Appeal Committee.<br />

4. Behaviour by any member of a team, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g all bench personnel, deemed objectionable conduct<br />

as def<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> the rule book <strong>for</strong> a sport shall be immediately subject to the penalty prescribed <strong>in</strong> the<br />

rule book <strong>for</strong> such an offense. In this situation dur<strong>in</strong>g a game, the head official <strong>for</strong> the game shall be<br />

empowered to see that the penalty is carried out (<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g ejection of team personnel from the game<br />

site) to allow the game to cont<strong>in</strong>ue, or, if necessary, to halt further play and award the game to the<br />

non-offend<strong>in</strong>g team. If an ejection results <strong>in</strong> a teacher-coach/teacher-supervisor to no longer be<br />

present with the team, the game will be <strong>for</strong>feited.<br />
