Supervision<br />

• Constant visual supervision dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>itial skill <strong>in</strong>struction.<br />

• On-site supervision is recommended follow<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>itial skill <strong>in</strong>struction and after<br />

all safety concerns have been emphasized<br />

Instructional Considerations<br />

• Student athletes should be taught to respect “air rights.” Players may jump from<br />

outside the goal area, hang <strong>in</strong> the air over the goal area, and shoot the ball<br />

be<strong>for</strong>e contact<strong>in</strong>g the floor. They cannot <strong>in</strong>terfere with game action after<br />

land<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the circle and must exit <strong>in</strong> the shortest route possible.<br />

Equipment/Facilities<br />

• Court size should be 40m by 20m. A safety zone outside the court should be 1m<br />

on the sidel<strong>in</strong>es and 2m on the endl<strong>in</strong>e.<br />

• The game may be played <strong>in</strong>doors <strong>in</strong> the gym, outdoors on grass, or any<br />

rectangular paved area.<br />

• If the court size needs to be modified, the width is more important than the<br />

length to preserve the goal area.<br />

• Regulation team handball nets or futsal nets should be used.<br />

• Ball hockey nets may also be used as goals.<br />

• Goals should not be fastened to the floor or wall.<br />

• A loose mesh is required on the goal.<br />

• Portable and collapsible goals must have all the required bolts and jo<strong>in</strong>t<br />

fasteners.<br />

• Regulation team handball balls should be used <strong>in</strong> competition.<br />
