Supervision
• On-site supervision is recommended during initial skill instruction of routines.
• In-the-area supervision is recommended following initial skill instruction and
after all safety concerns have been emphasized.
Instructional Considerations
• Skills and routines should be designed in such a way as to avoid interference
with other activities.
• Pom-pom plastic should be cleaned up as it is shed.
Equipment/Facilities
• If used, poms should be in good repair, e.g., not shedding.
• Any electrical equipment used should be in good working order and have wires
taped to the floor or contained within walls.
• Props used in routines should not place student athletes or spectators at risk.
