Supervision<br />

• Constant visual supervision is recommended dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>itial skill <strong>in</strong>struction.<br />

• On-site supervision is recommended follow<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>itial skill <strong>in</strong>struction and after<br />

all safety concerns have been emphasized.<br />

Instructional Considerations<br />

• Ultimate is a non-contact game. Other than m<strong>in</strong>or <strong>in</strong>cidental contact, contact<br />

should not be allowed.<br />

• Student athletes should be taught that they are free to jump vertically to catch<br />

the disk, but may not dive to the side.<br />

• Only hand blocks should be permitted; student athletes should not use foot<br />

blocks.<br />

• Referee<strong>in</strong>g is done by players on the field (spirit of the game.) Student athletes<br />

are responsible <strong>for</strong> their own foul and l<strong>in</strong>e calls. They resolve their own<br />

disputes.<br />

Equipment/Facilities<br />

• Regulation play<strong>in</strong>g field should be used <strong>for</strong> games (64 by 37m play<strong>in</strong>g field; 18<br />

by 37 m endzones.)<br />

• Play<strong>in</strong>g area should be free from goal posts.<br />

• Disks of standard adult weight (175 grams) should be used.<br />
