APPENDIX X - PHYSICAL EDUCATION CURRICULUM GLOSSARY<br />

The follow<strong>in</strong>g are def<strong>in</strong>itions of terms used <strong>in</strong> this document:<br />

careful parent<br />

teacher/coach<br />

when speak<strong>in</strong>g of the standard of care expected of<br />

teachers/coaches, this refers to the amount of caution that a prudent<br />

parent would display <strong>in</strong> car<strong>in</strong>g <strong>for</strong> their child.<br />

can be any <strong>in</strong>dividual approved by the pr<strong>in</strong>cipal or designate (see<br />

Appendix H). Any teacher/coach who is not a teacher or adm<strong>in</strong>istrator<br />

employed by the board or an <strong>in</strong>dividual with teach<strong>in</strong>g certification<br />

approved by the pr<strong>in</strong>cipal or designate (e.g. retired<br />

teacher, teacher not under contract) should:<br />

• complete the application <strong>for</strong>m <strong>for</strong> outside teachers/coaches<br />

<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g retired teachers, or teachers not currently under<br />

contract (see Appendix I);<br />

• be <strong>in</strong>terviewed and approved by the pr<strong>in</strong>cipal or designate<br />

(seeAppendix H);<br />

• familiarize themselves with relevant school and board policies<br />

and procedures provided by the pr<strong>in</strong>cipal or designate.<br />
