gradually increased from approximately 10 0 C in winter to more than 25 0 C in summer. When it was windy and cloudy, the air and road temperature in the sun dropped to the shade temperatures. Sun-shade temperatures The minimum-maximum ranges for the air and road temperatures in the shade were of the same magnitude, yet the air temperature was always higher than the road temperature in the shade in the morning. The road temperature gradually increased during the day and the air temperature usually peaked between 13h00 and 14h00, decreasing thereafter. The latter was true for the air temperature in the sun, but the road temperature in the sun peaked much higher and also earlier (around 12h00). The road temperature also dropped significantly faster in comparison with the air temperature, which was directly related to the amount of direct energy from the sun. The season, wind, cloud cover and time of the day all play a significant role on both the air and road temperatures. Shaded areas are affected more than sunny areas. Care should be taken when wind and rain are present. Then, even in the sunny areas, temperatures drop at an alarming rate. This observation substantiates the fact that weather patterns may have a dramatic influence on the success of a prime application.
