Typhoon Air Coolers
Typhoon Zone Control air conditioning
equipment has been added to the line of
products distributed by the RCA theatre
equipment section, according to J. P.
O'Brien, sales manager.
Typhoon employs an air conditioning
principle which eliminates the need for
installation of ducts and eliminates cooling
of upper areas of an auditorium. It
provides for removal of excessive moisture,
filtering, cooling and noiseless, draft-free
circulation. Heating coils may be installed
for use with either steam or hot water, so
that the same unit may be used for heating,
filtering and circulating warm air,
according to Typhoon executives.
Garrick Theatre Building,
Chicago, Sold to B&K
Balaban & Katz corporation this week
purchased the 18-story Garrick Theatre
building and leasehold estate at 58-64 West
Randolph St., in Chicago's Loop, from the
Northern Trust Co., trustee for the heirs
of Charles W. Pardridge. The ground lease
which runs to 1989, with an annual rental
of $17,500, is renewable for 99 years. The
building was purchased for about $3*0,000.
The land is owned by the Sears estate of
Boston.
A spokesman for Balaban & Katz said
the 900-seat playhouse is to be extensively
remodeled and its seating capacity enlarged.
Balaban & Katz has opsrated the
theatre since 1935.
