Richard Landsman, former manager oi the Alamo Drive-In, has been named city manager for the five Landsman-Richter drive-ins in San Antonio. John Burkhart succeeds him as manager of the Alamo. Barney Poblocki, Poblocki & Sons, announces the recent birth of a baby daughter, Mary Christine. The Poblockis have another child, David, who is now a year old. The Carrier Corp. announced its anticipation of a period of growth in the industry this year by introducing 47 new products in its 1950 dealer line, including 27 units in size and types not heretofore offered by the firm. 1}^ EMPLOYER'S BEST FRIEND- The mat that cuts breakage costs, prevents accidents, promotes sanitation, saves money .... Newbury, president and general manager of the Eastman Gelatine Corp., died February 2 at his home in Swampscott, Mass. He was 58 years old. The five-day meeting was presided over by E. C. Cahill, president of the RCA Service Co. and C. M. Odorizzi, vice-president of RCA in charge of sei-vice. The appointment of George L. McKenna as assistant to W. W. Watts, vice-president in charge of the RCA Engineering Products department, was announced recently. Prior to his new appointment, McKenna was manager of the industrial products section of the engineering products department. Since joining RCA in 1945, he has served as manager of organization planning and assistant director of personnel in the general office, as well as merchandise planning manager in the engineering products department sales staff. McKenna also holds a part-time post as a lecturer on industry at the Wharton school of the University of Pennsylvania. Stuart G. Lyon has joined with Worthington Pump and Machinery Corp. in organizing a new company, Lyon Industries, Inc., to distribute manual and coin-operated beverage vending machines. This company has acquired the rights, designs and patents formerly held on beverage vending machines by Lymo Industries, Inc., and Lion Manufacturing Corp., both of Chicago. Lyon Industries, Inc., will set up headquarters at 342 Madison avenue. New York City. Service headquarters and warehousing facilities have also been set up at Long Island City, N. Y. Officers of the firm include: Stuart G. Lyon, president; Frank J. Whelan, vicepresident; and Don S. Reynolds, chief engineer. The Alton Mfg. Co. is proud of a 1949 production record that details the installation of air conditioning in an even 50 theatres. Among them the Capitan and Granada, of the Isley circuit, are but two of the outstanding Texas houses, V. W. Sheplin has been appointed sales manager for the drive-in department of the Theatre Equipment Co., Toledo, announced Al Boudouris, president. Boudouris said the appointment was in line with expansion of the company's operations necessitated by increased business. Sheplin nas been associated with the drive-in industry for a number of years. The appointment of Carl A. Day as head of manufacturing at Bausch & Lomb Optical Co. was announced in mid-February by Theodore B. Drescher, vice-president in charge of manufacturing. Drescher will now devote full time to development of the company's methods, processes, and modernization of manufacturing facilities. City and State..
