Overall performance is summarised in a single sheet that can be<br />

viewed on each desk<strong>to</strong>p and provides all staff members with a highly<br />

visual reporting <strong>to</strong>ol outlining performance against the key indica<strong>to</strong>rs<br />

moni<strong>to</strong>ring hospital efficiency and quality.<br />

Each month, these indica<strong>to</strong>rs are updated and tagged with a traffic<br />

light system (red, amber or green) so all Employees can see at a<br />

glance how we are performing in each area. Departmental specific<br />

indica<strong>to</strong>rs are also widely used.<br />

Personal Development Planning (PDP): Personal Development<br />

Planning is a continuous development process that enables<br />

Employees <strong>to</strong> make the best use of their skills and helps advance both<br />

the individual’s plan and the strategic goals of the <strong>Hospital</strong>. Personal<br />

Development Planning ensures that Employees receive recognition<br />

for their work through a process, which acknowledges their<br />

achievements and provides them with as much feed<strong>back</strong> as is<br />

practicable about what they do and what is required in order <strong>to</strong><br />

continuously improve the service.<br />

PDP is a four-stage process comprising:<br />

• Preparation.<br />

• Personal evaluation and 360º feed<strong>back</strong>.<br />

• Discussion and planning with Line Manager.<br />

• Continuous review.<br />
