Equality/Diversity Policies and Guidelines: The Equal Opportunities<br />
Policy has been produced <strong>to</strong> ensure equal opportunities for all<br />
Employees and <strong>to</strong> accommodate diversity in the workplace. All<br />
persons regardless of marital status, family status, race, religion, age,<br />
disability, sexual orientation, gender and membership of the Traveller<br />
community will be provided with equality of access <strong>to</strong> employment<br />
and encouraged and assisted <strong>to</strong> achieve their full potential. The<br />
purpose of this policy is <strong>to</strong> create a workplace, which provides for<br />
equal opportunities for all staff and potential staff and where their<br />
dignity is protected and respected at all times. An equal opportunities<br />
approach applies <strong>to</strong> all areas of the hospital including:<br />
• Recruitment and selection.<br />
• Training and work experience.<br />
• Promotion and re-grading.<br />
• Conditions of employment.<br />
Intercultural Working Group: An Intercultural Working Group exists<br />
within the <strong>Hospital</strong> as an advisory resource on issues pertaining <strong>to</strong><br />
intercultural working, <strong>to</strong> pro-actively develop diverse cultural relations<br />
amongst Employees and patients and identify projects <strong>to</strong><br />
continuously develop positive intercultural working.<br />
The membership of the group reflects the intercultural diversity of<br />
Employees working in the hospital and will also aim <strong>to</strong> have<br />
representation from a wide cross-section of professional categories.<br />
