the <strong>Hospital</strong>. It assists the <strong>Hospital</strong> in looking after the holistic needs of<br />
its Employees. The decision on whether or not <strong>to</strong> grant discretionary<br />
leave lies with the <strong>Hospital</strong>.<br />
All leave applications are subject <strong>to</strong> the service needs of the <strong>Hospital</strong><br />
and approval by the appropriate Head of Service / Line Manager,<br />
and should be made in writing on the approved application form(s).<br />
Rostered and part-time Employees may consult their Head of Service/<br />
Line Manager <strong>to</strong> determine their entitlements, which are calculated<br />
on a fair and pro-rata basis.<br />
<strong>St</strong>atu<strong>to</strong>ry Leave<br />
Annual Leave: All Employees have a statu<strong>to</strong>ry annual leave<br />
entitlement <strong>to</strong> provide an opportunity for rest and relaxation. The<br />
<strong>Hospital</strong> offers a range of annual leave entitlements for various grades<br />
in the organisation.<br />
Your contract of employment will outline your entitlement <strong>to</strong> annual<br />
leave. This entitlement is calculated on the basis of your staff grade<br />
and the hours you are contracted <strong>to</strong> work.<br />
Public Holidays: There are nine public holidays provided for in the<br />
Organisation of Working Time Act Regulations 1997 as follows:<br />
• New Year’s Day.<br />
• <strong>St</strong>. Patrick’s Day.<br />
• Easter Monday.<br />
• The first Monday in May.<br />
