available during the first week <strong>to</strong> meet with you.<br />
• Ensuring that appropriate equipment and facilities are in place.<br />
• Coordinating and facilitating new Employees <strong>to</strong> undergo the<br />
remaining Induction Training required for their role.<br />
The Line Manager also plays an important role in many areas that are<br />
referred <strong>to</strong> in this Handbook. Some of the more significant areas are<br />
as follows:<br />
• The Probationary Assessments during your probationary period.<br />
• The management of attendance.<br />
• The management and support of your performance in your role.<br />
• The development of Employees’ professional and career<br />
development through Personal Development Plans (PDP’s) and<br />
Training Needs Analysis.<br />
The role of a Line Manager is <strong>to</strong> create an environment in which the<br />
distinct and different contributions of individuals can flourish in order<br />
<strong>to</strong> achieve the <strong>Hospital</strong>’s overall objectives. It is the role of the Line<br />
Manager <strong>to</strong> take an active part in ensuring that the service operates<br />
<strong>to</strong> the highest standard. The Line Manager plays an important role <strong>to</strong><br />
ensure that change is successful through activities like planning,<br />
organising, co-ordinating and leading the efforts of other members of<br />
the team as well as being a role model.<br />
