Overpayments: Although every effort is made <strong>to</strong> avoid such an<br />

occurrence, it is possible that at some time Employees may be<br />

overpaid. The <strong>Hospital</strong> will seek <strong>to</strong> recover any overpayments by<br />

writing <strong>to</strong> you setting out the details of the overpayment. You will be<br />

consulted on how the overpayment will be recouped and you may<br />

involve your Trade Union Representative.<br />

PPS Number: A PPS number is a unique reference number that helps<br />

you gain access <strong>to</strong> social welfare benefits and information from<br />

public service agencies in the Republic of Ireland such as the<br />

Department of Finance, Revenue Commissioners and the HSE.<br />

You will au<strong>to</strong>matically hold a PPS number if you were born in Ireland<br />

on or after 1971 or started working in Ireland after 1979. To apply for a<br />

PPS number you will firstly need <strong>to</strong> be resident in Ireland. You should<br />

contact the local Social Welfare Office within the area in which you<br />

live (www.welfare.ie).<br />

Travel and Subsistence Policy: Employees who are required <strong>to</strong> travel<br />

on official <strong>Hospital</strong> business, will be paid the travel and subsistence<br />

rates approved by the Department of Health & Children. Your Line<br />

Manager / Head of Service will have further details on the<br />

arrangements for payment of travelling expenses and subsistence<br />

and the rates and conditions relating <strong>to</strong> such expenses.<br />

Easi-Travel Plan: The scheme allows Employees <strong>to</strong> purchase tax saver<br />

commuter tickets from Dublin Bus, Iarnrod Eireann and LUAS light rail<br />

system via their employer. By availing of the scheme, staff can save<br />

up <strong>to</strong> 48% of travel costs as a result of tax and PRSI savings. The<br />

scheme is administered by the Finance Department. Further<br />

information is available on the Intranet.<br />
