Credits. In the absence of a Certificate of Tax Credit, tax will be<br />

deducted at the emergency rate. If you have been previously<br />

employed, your last employer should have given you a P45 Form.<br />

This Form should be forwarded <strong>to</strong> the Human Resources<br />

Department with your completed “Employee Details Form” on<br />

your date of commencement. Employees are advised <strong>to</strong> notify<br />

the Tax Office of any change in their personal or financial<br />

circumstances, which might affect their tax credits, for example a<br />

change in grade etc.<br />

• Social Welfare: Pay Related Social Insurance (PRSI) is deducted<br />

from the salaries and wages of all Employees at the relevant rates.<br />

If you require any further details contact the Department of Social<br />

and Family Affairs at www.welfare.ie. All permanent and<br />

pensionable staff in officer grade posts employed in the public<br />

service prior <strong>to</strong> 6th April 1995 pay Class D contributions. This is a<br />

reduced PRSI rate and covers staff for limited social welfare<br />

benefits. Since April 6th 1995 all new staff in the Health Service pay<br />

class A Social Welfare Contributions and are insured for all social<br />

welfare benefits. Please refer <strong>to</strong> your payslip for details of your PRSI<br />

class and PPS number.<br />
