smoking while at work, or those who want <strong>to</strong> quit long-term. The<br />
service can be contacted through the Preventative Medicine and<br />
Health Promotion Department on extension 4958.<br />
Work/Life Balance<br />
The <strong>Hospital</strong> recognises the importance of a healthy work/life<br />
balance for its Employees and has therefore introduced a number of<br />
policies and procedures, including extended working arrangements,<br />
rosters and rotas that can aid Employees in achieving this balance<br />
through various forms of flexible working arrangements. At the centre<br />
of this balance is the short, medium and long-term focus on a<br />
balance between providing a service now and taking care of our<br />
human resources <strong>to</strong> ensure that we can continue <strong>to</strong> deliver the<br />
service in the future. A brief summary of these policies is set out below.<br />
Flexible leave arrangements: These policies aim <strong>to</strong> facilitate equality<br />
of opportunity for men and women in the workplace. Arrangements<br />
for work/life balance include statu<strong>to</strong>ry entitlements and non-statu<strong>to</strong>ry<br />
arrangements. <strong>St</strong>atu<strong>to</strong>ry entitlements include annual leave,<br />
maternity, adoptive, force majeure, parental and carer's leave. Nonstatu<strong>to</strong>ry<br />
arrangements may be granted at the discretion of the<br />
<strong>Hospital</strong>, such as paternity leave, compassionate leave, career break,<br />
short-term leave of absence (unpaid leave), marriage leave and<br />
exam or study leave. Leave policies are explained further in Section 8<br />
of this Handbook.<br />
Flexible hours arrangements: Flexible hours arrangements and<br />
reduced working hours are other non-statu<strong>to</strong>ry arrangements, which<br />
