• Present types of emergencies and various<br />
cases that candidates will work on in groups<br />
of two. They will adapt standard emergency<br />
manoeuvres to their own ship.<br />
• Analyse with whole group emergency<br />
orders that candidates prepared in groups<br />
of two.<br />
• Present some simulation scenarios and, with<br />
candidates, test effectiveness of contingency<br />
manoeuvres. For example, during meeting in<br />
narrow fairway, oncoming ship goes out of<br />
control.<br />
Candidates<br />
• In groups of two, adapt standard emergency<br />
manoeuvres to own ship so as to be prepared<br />
to react appropriately to any contingency in<br />
the marine district:<br />
– identify areas of high risk in the marine<br />
district from charts and relevant<br />
documentation;<br />
– prepare scenarios for various emergency<br />
situations in terms of type of ship, its<br />
position in the marine district, and<br />
navigating conditions.<br />
• Test effectiveness of some contingency<br />
manoeuvres by means of simulation<br />
exercises with the help of instructor.<br />
• To complete planning, indicate appropriate<br />
moments for implementing emergency<br />
manoeuvres on the river or in the simulator.<br />
