7.7.3 Depth of Penetration of Water Repellent
Impregnation
To measure the depth of the penetration of water repeDent impregnation
in concrete.
The depth of penetration is measured by cutting out sa mple cores
of a minimum diameter or60 mm, cutting them open, drying them
at a temperature of 50 0 - 60 0 C and using water as an indicator. A
test consists o f 3 cores, and the penetration depth is recorded for
each of the 6 half cores using a magnifying glass for cracks.

7.7.4 Thickness of Surface Coating of Steel
To chec k that the thi ckness of the dri ed coating of paint or surface
coating of steel is as previously described.

For Acceptance Inspections testing the thickness orthe surface
coating should be carried out in accordance with the Norwegian
Public Roads Administration Manual No. 150: ' Bridges - Safe ty
and Techni cal Standards', Point NO.7 if this has not been done
during the construction phase. Moreover, thi s test is suited to
