the Results of
Inspections
8.1 Acceptance Inspections -
Warranty Inspections
Acceptance Inspections and Warranty Inspections should preferably
be printed on Bridge Management Systems inspection forms,
since these have been designed to suit each individual bridge
depending on the data in the BMS module for the structure.
Irthe data for some bridges have not been recorded in the BMS,
indi vidual reports require to be drawn lip, the contents of which
can have the fo llowing stmcture:
1. Summary containing an overview of any damage, faults or
defects to be repaired.
2. Description of the bridge and the system afloealing damage.
3. Results of visual inspections.
4. Results of the measurements and material testing.
5. Assessment of the recorded damage, faults or defects. Indicate
which of these require repair and whether some of them may be
possible sources of future destructi ve developments.
8.2 Routine Inspections
The reports for all Routine Inspections should be printed on the BMS
inspections fonns which have been designed to suit each individual
bridge and type of in spection.
The inspection fonns should be taken to inspections and then completed
on site. The fo llowing routines can be of assistance.
General Inspections require points I to 6 and 12 to be carried out.
I. The Inspector should check whether there are missing or incom
plete data with reference to bridge category, its position, type of
stmcture or the equipment required to gain access.
2. The name (initials) of the Inspector together with the date of the
inspection should be completed on the form.
3. The Inspector can record any general comments about the
inspection.
4. Experiences, events, specific damage or the such like can be
