jects that the University is offering and also in related<br />

subjects, the co-supervisor may be an external expert.<br />

The external expert(s) may act as co-supervisor(s) for Ph.<br />

D. work subject to the approval of the Vice-Chancellor in<br />

specific case(s).<br />

Director(s) and Director(s) (Regional Centre) working in<br />

different units (other than Academic Wing) of Vardhaman<br />

Mahaveer Open University, <strong>Kota</strong>, may be approved as<br />

supervisor(s) provided they have Ph.D. degree and five<br />

years P.G. or ten years U.G. teaching experience in a<br />

recognised Institution. In all such cases, eligibility for<br />

supervising Ph. D. work shall be considered only in the<br />

case of the subject area of the person concerned and<br />

only subjects in which the University offers postgraduate<br />

programme.<br />

Retired teachers of <strong>VMOU</strong> shall continue to be Research<br />

Supervisors of the University for candidate(s) already<br />

registered under them.<br />

A retired person shall not be normally allowed to act as a Supervisor.<br />

However, a person of eminence in the field can be considered<br />

as Supervisor by the Research Board provided that substantial<br />

proof of his/her research work is submitted to the Research Board<br />

for adjudging the suitability. Such cases shall be considered with<br />

reference of individual research candidate(s) only.<br />

A person not holding a Ph. D. degree shall not be normally considered<br />

eligible for being a Supervisor.<br />

No person shall be permitted to supervise or evaluate the research<br />

work of his/her close relations. The term close relation includes<br />

wife/husband/son/daughter/grandson/grand- daughter/brother/<br />

sister/nephew/niece/grand-niece/uncle/aunt/first cousin/son-inlaw/daughter-in-law.<br />

An approved Supervisor who fails to publish any research paper<br />

in a standard national/international journal in two consecutive calendar<br />

years shall not be eligible to be the Supervisor of any new<br />

candidate.
