Statutes of the University<br />

1. Vice- Chancellor<br />

(1) The Vice-Chancellor shall be a wholetime officer of the University and shall<br />

be appointed by the Chancellor after consultation with the State Government<br />

from a panel of not less than three names recommended and arranged in<br />

alphabetical order by a committee constituted under clause (3).<br />

(2) The Chancellor may, on being satisfied after consultation with the State<br />

Government that any name as recommended by the Committee may not be<br />

approved, call for fresh recommendations.<br />

(3) The committee referred to in clause (1) shall consist of three members oneeach<br />

to be nominated by the Board of Management, Chancellor in<br />

consultation with the State Government and the Vice-Chancellor of Indira<br />

Gandhi National Open University. The member nominated by the Chancellor<br />

shall be the Convener of the Committee. No person who is a teacher or an<br />

employee of the University or a member of an Authority of the University<br />

shall be nominated on the committee.<br />

(4) The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a term of three years from the date<br />

on which he enters upon his office or until he attains the age of sixty-five<br />

years, whichever is earlier:<br />

Provided that the Chancellor may require the Vice-Chancellor whose term is<br />

expiring to continue in office for such period, not exceeding one year, as<br />

may be specified by the Chancellor;<br />

Provided further that a person shall be eligible for appointment as Vice-<br />

Chacellor for a second term.<br />

(5) The emoluments and other conditions of service of the Vice-Chancellor shall<br />

be as follows:
