O.16.49 Study Leave:<br />

Conditions of service of teachers and other employees<br />

(1) Study leave for a period up to 3 years may be granted by the<br />

Board of Management to such permanent members of the staff for<br />

pursuing a programme of approved study/research work in an<br />

approved institution/University on such terms and conditions as<br />

may be decided upon from time to time on the merits of each case.<br />

An employee would ordinarily, be entitled to study leave for one<br />

year after expiry of a minimum of 3 years of services.<br />

He/she may be granted study leave for more than one year, after<br />

completion of 5 years or more of service with the University.<br />

Added with Approval in 19 th meeting of BOM dt. 3.2.92 under Item No. 19/<br />

5 following :-<br />

(3) An application for study leave shall be submitted in the prescribed<br />

form (Appendix) duly forwarded and recommended through the<br />

appropriate officer.<br />

(4) An application for study leave submitted shall be considered by<br />

an advisory committee constituted consisting of three members<br />

nominated by the Vice-Chancellor every two years at the beginning<br />

of the session.<br />

(5) The advisory committee shall consider the applications for study<br />

leave in the order in which they are received, and shall take into<br />

consideration the following:<br />

(i)<br />

(ii)<br />

(iii)<br />

The possibility of increased usefulness of the applicant<br />

to the University after expiry of the study leave ;<br />

Prior study leave, if any, granted to an applicant;<br />

The pendancy of any enquiry or disciplinary proceedings<br />

against the applicant;<br />

(iv) Whether a person has already got Ph.D. ;<br />

(v)<br />

(vi)<br />

An applicant who has been awarded financial assistance<br />

for the period of study leave by any institution of higher<br />

learning/research may be given preference over other<br />

applicants.<br />

Normally an applicant who applies for the first time shall<br />

have priority over other applicants.
