Conditions of service of teachers and other employees<br />

Duty Includes:<br />

Service as a probationer provided that such service is<br />

followed by confirmation.<br />

Joining time.<br />

Time spent on a course of instruction or training which an<br />

employee undergoes, specifically directed by the University<br />

shall be treated as duty.<br />

Participation in Conference/Seminars/Workshops at the<br />

instance of the University.<br />

Officiate: An employee officiates in a post when he/she performs<br />

the duties of a post on which another person holds a lien. The<br />

appointing authority may, if it thinks fit, appoint an employee to<br />

officiate in a vacant post on which no other employee holds a lien.<br />

Probation: Probation is the period in which one is appointed to a<br />

post for determining his/her fitness for eventual substantive<br />

appointment to the post.<br />

“Probationer” means an employee on probation in or against a<br />

substantive vacancy in the cadre of the University.<br />

“Pay” means the pay admissible on the relevant date and includes<br />

special pay, personal pay, dearness allowance deemed as pay but<br />

shall not include any allowances, fee or honorarium.<br />

“Personal Pay” means additional pay granted to an employee:<br />

(a)<br />

(b)<br />

To protect him against loss of substantive pay in respect of<br />

a permanent post due to a revision of pay or to any reduction<br />

of such substantive pay otherwise than as a disciplinary<br />

measure; or<br />

In exceptional circumstances or other personal<br />

considerations.<br />

“Special Pay” means an addition to the nature of pay to the<br />

emoluments of a post of an employee granted in consideration of:<br />

(a)<br />

(b)<br />

The specifically ardous nature of the duties: OR<br />

A specific addition to the work or responsibility.
