On the unanimous recommendation of the examiners of the thesis<br />
as also the viva-voce examination, the Research Board shall<br />
recommend the award of the degree.<br />
The candidate shall, on publication of the thesis, mention on the<br />
title page that it was a thesis approved for D.Litt. or D.Sc. Degree<br />
of the Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University, <strong>Kota</strong>.<br />
It is not obligatory for the University to publish the thesis.<br />
O.8.1.(6) Professor – Emeritus:<br />
(1) The status of Professor-Emeritus may be conferred by the Board<br />
of Management on such conditions as it may deem fit, upon any<br />
retired Professor of the University who has outstanding reputation<br />
in his/her field. The conferment of the title of Professor –Emeritus<br />
shall be for lifetime, but it shall not be treated as a re-employment.<br />
(2) The status of Honorary Professor may be conferred for a specific<br />
period by the Board of Management on such conditions as it may<br />
deem fit upon any scholar of outstanding reputation in his field.<br />
(3) The status of Emeritus Fellow may be conferred by the Board of<br />
Management on such conditions as it may deem fit, upon any<br />
retired teacher of the University, other than professor, who has<br />
outstanding reputation in his field.<br />
(4) The proposal for conferment of such status (Professor /Emeritus/<br />
Honorary Professor/Emeritus Fellow) may be initiated by a<br />
Committee consisting of the Vice-Chancellor, the Director of the<br />
School concerned and an external expert nominated by the Vice-<br />
Chancellor. The recommendations of the Committee shall be placed<br />
before the Board of Management for its final decision.<br />
(5) A Professor/Emeritus/An Honorary Professor/An Emeritus Fellow<br />
may guide doctoral work of students, hold advanced seminars<br />
and give lectures, and may be admitted to such other academic<br />
benefits as the Academic Council or the Board of Management<br />
may consider necessary.<br />
(6) A Professor/Emeritus/An Honorary Professor/ An Emeritus Fellow<br />
shall be entitled to draw such sumptuary allowances as may be<br />
fixed by the Board of Management in each case.
