1 1963 First meeting of new Tourist Association represented by <strong>Shoalhaven</strong><br />

Shire Council, Municipality of Shellharbour and Municipality of<br />

Kiama. Mr A N Hindmarsh was elected Presdient.<br />

MARCH 4<br />

1 1886 The Kangaroo Valley Agricultural & Historical Association held its<br />

first show on March 4th & 5th on temporary grounds.<br />

2 1993 The Prime Minister of Australia, the Right Honourable Paul Keating,<br />

MP, visited the <strong>Shoalhaven</strong> on a whirlwind tour in support of the<br />

Australian Labor Party Candidate, Mr Peter Knott. The seat was the<br />

marginal seat of Gilmore. The General Election was scheduled for<br />

March 13th, 1993.<br />

1 1869 The <strong>Shoalhaven</strong> News announced the formation of a new<br />

<strong>Shoalhaven</strong> pastoral, Agricultural and Horticultural Association.<br />

President was James Aldcorn. Annual subscription £1/-/-.<br />

2 1993 The Leader of the Federal Opposition, Mr John Hewston, MP, visited<br />

the <strong>Shoalhaven</strong> on a whirlwind tour in support of the Liberal Party<br />

Candidate, Mr Bill Eddy. The seat was the marginal seat of Gilmore.<br />

The General Election was scheduled for March 13th, 1993.<br />

MARCH 7<br />

1 1954 The foundation stone for St. Patrick Roman Catholic School, Berry,<br />

was laid by Bishop McCabe of Wollongong.<br />

1 1958 A new bridge of pre-stressed concrete, the first of its kind in Australia<br />

over Broughton Creek near the Berry Training Farm, was opened by<br />

Sam Larter, the oldest living resident in the area.<br />

1 1959 The inaugural charter dinner of the Nowra Lions Club was held.<br />

Gordon Cook was elected President.<br />
