Bulli Lookout by the Hon. T D Mutch, MLA. The Princes Highway
completed - traverses the Shoalhaven from north to south.
5 1973 Prince Phillip visited HMAS Creswell on the occasion of the diamond
jubilee of the establishment of the Royal Australian Naval College.
1979 The Federal Minister for Health, Mr Ralph Hunt, opened the
Shoalhaven Nursing Home at Bomaderry. This 80 bed home was
built at a cost of $980,000.
OCTOBER 20
1 1881 The newspaper "Telegraph & Shoalhaven Advertiser" changed its
name to the "Shoalhaven Telegraph".
OCTOBER 21
16 1823 Mr Justice Field, on viewing Berry's land from Mt. Coolangatta stated
"I'm afraid Mr Berry's lands will hardly repay him for his outlay on
them".
1 & 13 1932 The opening of the Methodist Church, Berry, by the President of the
Methodist Conference, the Rev. H C Foreman, MA.
19 1967 The water supply from Porters Creek Dam, west of Milton, was
turned on by the Hon. P H Morton, MLA. This water supplied both
Milton and Ulladulla and freed these towns from the constant worry
of empty rain water tanks.
OCTOBER 22
17 1979 The City of Shoalhaven granted in perpetuity freedom of entry to the
Commanding Officer, Officers and Men of Her Majesty's Australian
Ships Albatross and Creswell. This means that they can enter on
ceremonial occasions with swords drawn, bayonets fixed, drums
beating, bands playing and colours flying.
