1 1879 Opening of the Cambewarra School of Arts by John Roseby, M.L.A.<br />

It cost £380/-/-.<br />

1 1903 Laying of the foundation stone of the Presbyterian Church School<br />

Hall, Kinghorn Street, Nowra, by the Rev. John Ferguson.<br />

1 1908 Formation of the Illawarra Cow Testing Association with its<br />

headquarters at Berry. President was H D Morton. The formation<br />

was accompanied by a donation of £100/-/- from Alexander Hay of<br />

Coolangatta. Drought at the time caused the experiment to be short<br />

lived.<br />

19 1877 The Ulladulla Municipal Council fixed the following licence fees for<br />

vehicles operating within Municipal boundaries:- 2 wheel carts 20/-,<br />

drays 40/-, timber carriages 40/-, passenger vehicles - two wheels<br />

20/-, four wheels 40/- per annum.<br />

1 1918 The far South Coast march to freedom, which was part of a state<br />

wide recruiting campaign for men to joint the armed forces, reached<br />

Martin Place, Sydney.<br />

SEPTEMBER 7<br />

1 1864 First meeting of the <strong>Shoalhaven</strong> Estate Agricultural Association at<br />

Wheatley's Royal Hotel, Numbaa.<br />

1 & 13 1895 John Hay opened the Berry Central Butter Factory. It was built<br />

nearly opposite the railway station and was the largest butter factory<br />

in NSW. It was built of weatherboard with a galvanized iron roof,<br />

100 feet x 40 feet and had 3 churns and the largest butter worker in<br />
