13 1884 A small corrugated iron and timber church behind the unfinished
manse in Berry was opened and dedicated as the Presbyterian
Church.
1 1961 The Budd diesel air conditioned train - the only one in New South
Wales at the time - was introduced to the south coast run.
1 1967 Formation of the Shoalhaven District Historical Society.
R A Bishop was President and P J Schofield was Secretary/
Treasurer.
11 1967 The Commercial Bank of Australia Ltd opened it's single storey, brick
premises at 46 Kinghorn Street, Nowra.

1 1943 The Ulladulla boat building works at Ulladulla Harbour launched its
first small ship, which was part of an order of 4 tugboats for the
United States of America. Regretfully, it stuck on the sand at the
launching and the harbour had to be dredged as a result. The
works employed a staff of 20 and 100 employees. From 1943 to
1947 thirty small ships were built. This tugboat was the first
launched on the New South Wales coast as part of the program and
the thirty ships launched was a record for coastal yards of the war
and post war era.
7 1974 A cyclone uncovered the wreck of the "Coolangatta" and dumped it
high on the beach north of the Tweed River. Souvenir hunters
quickly removed what the Government and the sea had not been
able to destroy in 127 years.

1 1962 The airstrip on R Carter's property on Berry Mountain Road was
opened by the "unofficial Mayor of Kangaroo Valley", H O Cox. This
strip was developed by working bees of farmers to further aerial top
dressing of pastures with superphosphate.
1 1968 The sculpture erected as an addition to the memorial gates to the
Nowra Showground was unveiled by the Governor of NSW, Sir
Roden Cutler, VC.
13 1969 The first extensions to the Berry Bowling Club were officially opened.
