1 1900 Opening of the new Union Church, Cambewarra.<br />

1 1876 Opening of the Loyal Orange Lodge at Wood Hill.<br />

The Govenor of NSW, Sir Arthur Roden Cutler, by proclamation<br />
declared that <strong>Shoalhaven</strong> Shire would become a Municipality on the<br />
1st August 1979 and would be the City of <strong>Shoalhaven</strong>.<br />
JULY 14<br />
1 1969 The first call of the Nowra Meals on Wheels was made on this day.<br />
The meals were prepared by voluntary labour at the Nowra School of<br />
Arts building 3 days a week.<br />

1 1947 A gale on the night of July 15 and early morning of July 16 blew off<br />
the roof and a portion of the end wall of the Milton Congregational<br />
Church.<br />

10 1883 Anton Wolf of Nowra was granted a publican's license to operate a<br />
house (hotel) on the corner of Junction & Kinghorn Streets. This<br />
was to become the Prince of Wales Hotel which opened in<br />
December 1883. Despite being partially burnt down in 1901 (and<br />
subsequently rebuilt) the Prince of Wales lasted 97 years when it<br />
was demolished to make way for a Best & Less store.<br />

13 1888 The Salvation Army began its work in Broughton Creek and held<br />
