PROFITABLE GROWTH FOR ALL
Ford recognizes the importance of a competitive
global strategy and diverse revenue base. Our goal is to
do more than simply grow globally, and the opportunities
for global growth have never been greater. Dynamic
growth markets including Brazil, Russia, India and China,
and an emerging middle class worldwide, give us the
opportunity to reach more customers with the products
people want to buy and be a true global manufacturer.
We’ve been retooling our entire product creation
process — we want to grow profitably in every market
where we do business. We have taken steps to allow us
to create a strong business with a revitalized
manufacturing system. We are able to provide
customers with great products, contribute to a better
world for our stakeholders and deliver profitable growth
for all. We are fostering change all around the world by
making progress on existing developments, breaking
ground on new projects and announcing new plans.
In Asia Pacific, we are building three assembly
plants, in addition to the recently opened Chongqing
3
assembly plant, that will increase capacity in the region
to 2.3 million vehicles annually by mid-decade.
Ground was broken for a new, state-of-the-art
integrated manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat in
India that represents an investment commitment of
approximately $1 billion.
Ford and Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Ltd.
and a new engine plant in Chongqing.
Ford and Sollers OJSC launched a 50-50 joint
venture in Russia named FordSollers. The joint venture
received long-term financing of about $1.4 billion. Ford
Transit will be among several new products that will be
built by FordSollers.
We continue to have high expectations for
opportunities and growth in South America, including
a new $500 million investment program revealed
during the year at our engine and transmission plants
in Taubate, Sao Paulo in Brazil.
