The script must be presented on the page in a logical and consistent<br />

manner, so that all those using it can refer <strong>to</strong> lines and instructions<br />

quickly and accurately.<br />

The cover sheet of the script should contain this essential in<strong>for</strong>mation:<br />

• Program number, title, <strong>to</strong>pic, date of writing, duration, writer’s<br />

name;<br />

• Program objectives and purposes;<br />

• Character list; and<br />

• Sequential list of required sound effects and music.<br />

Every page of the script should have a header showing the program title,<br />

writer’s name, writing date, and page number.<br />

Every line of the script is numbered <strong>for</strong> ease of reference.<br />

Names are given in upper case letters, followed by a colon. A reasonable<br />

space is left between the name and the speech.<br />

All instructions <strong>for</strong> technicians are presented in upper case letters and<br />

underlined.<br />

All instructions <strong>for</strong> ac<strong>to</strong>rs are given in upper case letters in parentheses at<br />

the appropriate place in the speech.<br />

A remarks column can be placed on the right-hand side of the page<br />

where the writer can make notes <strong>for</strong> the support materials writer,<br />

direc<strong>to</strong>r, moni<strong>to</strong>rs, and others using the script.<br />
