2.0 Mission and Functions of R & DC:<br />

Mission<br />

Embark upon research for enhancing general as well as specific knowledge, understand<br />

and explain development processes, solve specific problems and address and facilitate<br />

policy formulation as required.<br />

Functions<br />

• Continually keep informed of latest developments in respective fields by referring<br />

to subject-matter journals and websites, interaction with field personnel and active<br />

professionals in the area.<br />

• Routinely examine / study the changing development issues and challenges and<br />

formulate research ideas.<br />

• Prepare a list of current development issues and challenges, the knowledge gaps<br />

etc. by thematic areas addressed by each Centre.<br />

• Prepare and present to all YASHADA staff a summary of latest developments and<br />

concerns - once in three months.<br />

• Liaise with HoDs for documenting current issues/challenges in respective subject<br />

areas.<br />

• Formulate research questions, research projects along with budgets.<br />

• Take up and complete research for concerned subject areas.<br />

• Ensure that research results are publicized widely.<br />

• Ensure that research findings ale appropriately incorporated into training.<br />

• Ensure that the research work completed has a end-user.<br />

• Following specific research findings, facilitate and guide formulation of<br />

government policies as required by changing times.<br />

• Explore external funding support for research to be taken up.<br />

3.0 Specific Role of R&DC Members<br />

• Regularly attend and participate in R & DC meetings called.<br />

• Inform R & DC about latest developments in respective fields within and outside<br />

Maharashtra.<br />

• Prepare research proposals.<br />

• Participate in conducting research.<br />

• Take up data analysis, synthesis and report writing<br />

• Provide input to YASHADA Journals (ASHWATTHA and YASHMANTHAN)<br />

Liaise with in-house faculty and external subject-matter experts for identifying<br />

potential research areas and come up with specific research needs.<br />
