Refuelling
Opening the fuel filler flap
2. Turn past the resistance until it comes
to a stop.
3. Take out the cap.
4. Hang up the cap on the inside of the
fuel filler flap.
NOTE
Put the petrol cap back after refuelling. Turn
until one or more clear clicks are heard.
WARNING
Fuel which spills on to the ground can be ignited
by the exhaust fumes.
Switch off the fuel-driven heater before
starting to refuel.
Never carry an activated mobile phone
when refuelling the ring signal could cause
spark build-up and ignite petrol fumes,
leading to fire and injury.
Filling up with fuel
Do not overfill the tank but fill until the pump
nozzle cuts out.
Petrol
IMPORTANT

Switch off the fuel-driven heater before refuelling.
Open the fuel filler flap with the button on the
lighting panel, see page 50. The engine must
be switched off before the flap can be
opened. The fuel flap is located on the rear
right wing.
Closing
Push in the flap until you hear a click.
NOTE
Excess fuel in the tank can overflow in hot
weather.
Fuel of a lower quality than that specified on
page 244 should not be used as engine power
and fuel consumption can be negatively
affected.
Do not add cleaning additives to the petrol,
unless recommended by Volvo.
Diesel
At low temperatures (–5 C to –40 C), a paraffin
precipitate may form in the diesel fuel,
which can lead to ignition problems.
IMPORTANT
Use special winter grade fuel during cold
months.
Fuel cap
1. Turn the fuel cap until an obvious resistance
is felt.
