Goce Smilevski was born in 1975 in Skopje, Macedonia. He received<br />

his BA in comparative literature from the Ss. Cyril and Methodius<br />

University of Skopje, studied Czech philology at the Charles University<br />

in Prague, and obtained his MA from the Department of Gender<br />

Studies at the Central European University in Budapest. His novel<br />

Разговор со Спиноза (Conversation with Spinoza, 2002) was translated<br />

into Slovene as Pogovor s Spinozo by Aleš Mustar and published<br />

by the Založba Škuc publishing house in 2005. The novel was also<br />

published in the USA, Serbia, Bulgaria, Poland, and Croatia and is<br />

soon to be published in Spain, the Netherlands, Finland, Israel, and<br />

Germany. The synopsis of the novel Сестрата на Сигмунд Фројд<br />

(Sigmund Freud’s Sister) won him the CEI Fellowship for Writers in<br />

Residence in 2006. The completed novel was published in 2010 and<br />

won the European Union Prize for Literature.<br />
