Managing Network Profiles<br />

A network profile is a group of configurations that you can apply to your<br />

wireless devices. Once the wireless devices are configured with the network<br />

values configured in the network profile, you can manage the devices<br />

through the <strong>Avalanche</strong> <strong>Console</strong>. If your wireless devices do not have the<br />

appropriate network values, you will not be able to manage them. Creating<br />

network profiles allows you to configure multiple devices on your network at<br />

once.<br />

Network profiles allow you to configure the following parameters for your<br />

wireless devices:<br />

• Network information. You can set network information such as gateway<br />

addresses and subnet masks for both infrastructure and mobile devices.<br />

• IP addresses. You can select the method by which infrastructure and<br />

mobile devices receive their IP address assignments.<br />

• Security encryption and authentication. You can select the types of<br />

encryption and authentication you want your wireless devices to use.<br />

• Epochs. You can assign a specific time for a network profile change to take<br />

effect by creating a network Epoch.<br />

Creating Network Profiles<br />

A network profile allows you to control network settings for all devices<br />

meeting its selection criteria.<br />

To create a network profile:<br />

1 From the Profiles tab, click Add Profile.<br />

The Create Profile dialog box appears.
