TROUBLESHOOTING ORBAN MODEL <strong>9400</strong><br />

A) Click “Start / Programs / Accessories / Communications / Network Connections”<br />

to bring up the Network Connections screen.<br />

B) In the “Network Connections” window, right-click “<strong>Optimod</strong> <strong>9400</strong> - Direct”<br />

and choose “Properties.”<br />

C) The “Properties” window opens for “<strong>Optimod</strong> <strong>9400</strong> - Direct.”<br />

D) Click the “Networking” tab.<br />

E) Set “Type of dial-up server I am calling” to “PPP: Windows 95 / 98 / NT4 / 2000,<br />

Internet”<br />

F) Select the “Settings” button and make sure all PPP settings are unchecked,<br />

then click “OK.”<br />

G) In “This connection uses the following items,” uncheck all except for “Internet<br />

Protocol (TCP/IP).” You can also leave “QoS Packet Scheduler” checked if you<br />

like.<br />

H) In “This connection uses the following items,” select “Internet Protocol<br />

(TCP/IP)” and then click the “Properties” button. The “Internet Protocol<br />

(TCP/IP) Properties” window opens.<br />

I) Choose “Obtain an IP address automatically” and “Obtain DNS server address<br />

automatically”<br />

J) Click the “Advanced…” button on the “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” Window.<br />

K) In the “Advanced TCP/IP Settings” select the “General” Tab; make sure that<br />

no check boxes are checked.<br />

L) Click “OK” to dismiss the “Advanced TCP/IP Settings” window.<br />

M) On the “Properties” window for “<strong>Optimod</strong> <strong>9400</strong> – Modem” click the “Advanced”<br />

tab.<br />

N) Click “OK” to dismiss the window whose name is your new connection.<br />

O) Click “Cancel” to dismiss the “Connect [nnnn]” dialog box<br />

P) Restart your computer.<br />

This resets the serial port and reduces the likelihood that you will encounter<br />

problems connecting to the <strong>9400</strong>.<br />

Troubleshooting Windows XP Modem Connect:<br />

If you are having trouble establishing a connection, check your New Connection’s<br />

properties to make sure they are set up correctly.<br />

A) Click “Start / Programs / Accessories / Communications / Network Connections”<br />

to bring up the Network Connections screen.<br />

B) In the “Network Connections” window, right-click “<strong>Optimod</strong> <strong>9400</strong> - Modem”<br />

and choose “Properties.”<br />

The “Properties” window opens for “<strong>Optimod</strong> <strong>9400</strong> - Modem.”
