Case Development<br />

• <str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> objective of the study was to evaluate the impact <strong>on</strong> producti<strong>on</strong>, jobs and government revenues<br />

of implementing U.S. oil and natural gas regulatory policies which support the development of North<br />

America’s oil and natural gas resources<br />

• To achieve this, Wood Mackenzie has developed two scenarios reflecting different regulatory policy<br />

with respect to North American hydrocarb<strong>on</strong> resources<br />

• <str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> base case will be referred to throughout this report as the “Current Path Case”<br />

• <str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> case assumes that current policy and regulatory envir<strong>on</strong>ment c<strong>on</strong>tinue into the future<br />

• In essence, the policies in this case hinder the development of North America’s oil and gas resources.<br />

Resource development increases in this case but at a relatively modest pace<br />

• <str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> alternative to the Current Path Case is referred to throughout this report as the “Development<br />

Policy Case”<br />

• This case evaluates the impact of policies that encourage development of the U.S. upstream oil and natural<br />

gas sector<br />
