DR. IBRAHIM ABDEL GELIL<br />

Academic Chair <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan AI Nahayan, and Director <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the<br />

Envir<strong>on</strong>mental Management Programme at the <strong>Arab</strong>ian Gulf University in<br />

Bahrain. He was the CEO <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the Egyptian Envir<strong>on</strong>mental Affairs Agency<br />

(EEAA), and the chairman <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the Egyptian Organizati<strong>on</strong> for Energy Planning<br />

(OEP). He authored and co-authored around 70 publicati<strong>on</strong>s <strong>on</strong> energy and envir<strong>on</strong>ment.<br />

DR. AYMAN ABOU HADID<br />

Director at the Ministry <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Agriculture in Cairo, Egypt <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the Central Laboratory<br />

for Agricultural <str<strong>on</strong>g>Climate</str<strong>on</strong>g> (CLAC). He established the Arid Land Agriculture<br />

Research Institute at the University <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Ain Shams and was the Executive Director<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the Egyptian envir<strong>on</strong>mental Affairs Agency. He has over 250 published papers,<br />

and is coordinator <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> various research projects <strong>on</strong> agriculture and climate change.<br />

DR. MOHAMED EL-ASHRY<br />

Senior Fellow at the UN Foundati<strong>on</strong>. He previously served as CEO & Chairman<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the Global Envir<strong>on</strong>ment Facility (GEF). Prior to joining the GEF, he served<br />

as Director <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the Envir<strong>on</strong>ment Department at the World Bank, as Senior Vice-<br />

President <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the World Resources Institute, and as Assistant Pr<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>essor <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Geology<br />

at Cairo University. He also served as a member <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> several high-level internati<strong>on</strong>al<br />

commissi<strong>on</strong>s and has received a number <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> awards, including the 2006<br />

Champi<strong>on</strong>s <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the Earth Award.<br />

DR. HAMED ASSAF<br />

Pr<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>essor <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> civil and envir<strong>on</strong>mental engineering at the American University <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

Beirut (AUB). In additi<strong>on</strong> to teaching courses in hydrology, water resources planning<br />

and management, informati<strong>on</strong> technology and GIS, he is actively involved<br />

in research focusing <strong>on</strong> the implicati<strong>on</strong>s <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> climate change <strong>on</strong> water resources and<br />

adapti<strong>on</strong> opti<strong>on</strong>s with particular emphasis <strong>on</strong> the integrated water resources management<br />

(IWRM) approach.<br />

DR. EMAN GHONEIM<br />

Geomorphologist with a primary interest in the applicati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Geographical<br />

Informati<strong>on</strong> System (GIS), remote sensing and space technology in the study <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

arid envir<strong>on</strong>ment, natural disasters, and water resources in desert regi<strong>on</strong>s. She is<br />

assistant research pr<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>essor at the Center for Remote Sensing, Bost<strong>on</strong> University,<br />

USA. She has many papers to her credit.<br />

DR. ABDELLATIF KHATTABI<br />

Pr<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>essor at Ecole Nati<strong>on</strong>ale Forestière d’Ingénieurs in Morocco, where he teaches<br />

courses related to envir<strong>on</strong>mental impact assessment, envir<strong>on</strong>mental and<br />

resource ec<strong>on</strong>omics and sustainable management <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> natural resources. His main
